Below are listed all of the curricular objectives addressed in this project if it were to be completed as outlined. The social studies objectives are stated first and the information and communications technologies outcomes are listed in brackets.

 

 

This project could be approached in a variety of ways. It may be approached as critical inquiry project in which students explore the concepts of political and social structure for a particular people and learn how to use specific technology tools to help support inquiry, or it could be used as a culminating activity following instruction on the topic of the Iroquois Confederacy to check for understanding of the interaction between political and social structures in the Iroquois Confederacy. In either case, feel free to pick and choose which elements best suit your classroom situation. The activities could also be broken out and used separately if desired.

 

 

6.2.4 analyze the structure and functions of the Iroquois Confederacy by exploring and reflecting upon the following questions and issues:

 

- How was the Iroquois Confederacy structured?

 

- What was the role and status of women within the Iroquois Confederacy?

 

- How did the social structure of the Iroquois Confederacy impact its political structure?
